The chakras are often referred to as the “Mystic Wheel” in Eastern spirituality and are believed to be energy centers in the body. Each chakra is associated with a different aspect of physical and emotional well-being. It’s a common belief that working on the chakras can help with emotional healing. This can be done through various techniques, such as meditation, visualizations, and affirmations.

There are seven chakras or energy centers in the body. Each chakra is associated with a different aspect of physical and emotional well-being.

First Chakra

Mooladhara or the root chakra, located at the perineum is associated with grounding and feeling safe and secure.

Second Chakra

Swadistana or the sacral chakra, located in the lower abdomen, at the sacrum, which is a triangular bone at the base of the spine is associated with creativity and sexuality.

Third Chakra

Manipura or the solar plexus chakra, located in the upper abdomen is associated with personal power and self-esteem.

Fourth Chakra

Anahata or the heart chakra, located in the center of the chest is associated with love and compassion.

Fifth Chakra

Vishuddi chakra or the throat chakra, located in the throat is associated with communication and self-expression.

Sixth Chakra

Āgyā or the third eye chakra, located between the eyebrows is associated with intuition and wisdom.

Seventh Chakra

Sahasrara or the crown chakra, located at the top of the head is associated with spiritual connection and enlightenment.

There are of course many different ways to meditate on the chakras. Here is one way to meditate on chakras.

Step 01 – Please find a comfortable seated position and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths to relax and bring your focus inward.

Step 02 – Choose which chakra you want to focus on. Begin by visualizing a ball of light in that area of the body.

Step 03 – As you breathe in, imagine the light growing and expanding. As you breathe out, imagine any tension or negativity being released from the body.

Step 04 – Spend a few minutes focusing on the light in the chosen chakra, allowing it to expand and fill your body with its corresponding qualities. For example, if you are focusing on the heart chakra, imagine the light filling your body with love and compassion.

Step 05 – When you are ready, slowly open your eyes. Take a few deep breaths and notice any changes you may feel in your body and mind.

Note- It is important to remember that the chakras are a concept from Eastern spirituality and are not recognized by Western medicine. As such, it is always best to consult with a medical professional for any physical or emotional issues you may be experiencing.
